About this hijacker
Search.searchytdav.com is a browser hijacker promoted website that may have entered your computer along with freeware. You may not have noticed it being attached when you were installing some kind of program you got from the Internet. It’s not difficult to avoid these infections and we will explain what to do in the following paragraph.
In the mean time, you should familiarize yourself with this hijacker so that you know what to expect. If it manages to infiltrate your computer, it will change your browser’s settings and set its promoted site as your homepage. From then on, it will try to redirect you to sponsored sites so that it could generate revenue for them. It should be mentioned that while hijackers are not malicious infections themselves, they can redirect you to malware. Which is why you should delete Search.searchytdav.com.
Hijacker distribution methods
These kinds of hijackers are added to free programs as extra offers. This particular hijacker seems to come together with the extension TubeTab, so you must have installed a program that had it added to it. In order to avoid these infections, make sure you always use Advanced or Custom settings when installing freeware. If something is added to the program, it will be displayed in those settings. All you have to do is uncheck the boxes. Refrain from using Default because they do not show anything. And if you do not want to have to remove Search.searchytdav.com or similar again, always use Advanced.
Should you uninstall Search.searchytdav.com?
Browser hijackers are not serious infections but they still need to be dealt with right away. If you happen to find that the above mentioned site loads every time you open your browser, whether it’s Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you need to get rid of the hijacker. It will have changed your browser’s settings so that the site is set as your homepage and new tabs. And you probably have tried changing them back only to find that the hijacker changes them again. You will not be able to fully change settings unless you first delete Search.searchytdav.com. The site is promoting a search engine that will try to redirect you so we do not recommend using it. Since hijackers do not differentiate between safe and dangerous sites, you could end up on an infected one, and accidentally download malware. The hijacker will also be collecting information about you and what you search for. It is free to share it with third-parties. There is no reason why you should not remove Search.searchytdav.com, so proceed with it as soon as possible.
