What is Pushwelcome.com

Pushwelcome.com is a rogue website pushing a social-engineering scam that would cause ads to appear on the desktop. Popular browsers have a feature that allows you to get notifications from your favorite websites. For example, you may want to see notifications about important news on your desktop. You go to your preferred news site and press “Allow” when an alert appears asking you to give permission to the site to show you notifications. This will allow the site to push you notifications so you’ll be getting updates directly to your desktop. Unfortunately, scammers are misusing this feature to spam users with ads.

When you visit Pushwelcome.com, an alert appears saying “Pushwelcome.com wants to show notifications”. Pressing “Allow” will supposedly allow you to continue to the site, but in reality you would be agreeing to see ads on your desktop. We highly doubt you want to see ads when browsing, so agreeing to see these notifications would be a mistake. If you have already pressed “Allow”, we will explain how to revoke the permission in the last section of the report.

Keep in mind that if you are being redirected by adware, you will need to get rid of it to delete Pushwelcome.com redirects.

Visiting high-risk websites with low-quality ads can sometimes trigger redirects to sites like Pushwelcome.com. It’s usually pornography sites, or ones that host pirated content that can redirect you to questionable sites. To avoid being redirected, use adblocker when browsing.

However, if you are constantly redirected to Pushwelcome.com, your computer is likely infected with adware. Adware is a rather minor infection that mainly shows ads and redirects to questionable websites. It usually comes attached to freeware as an extra offer, so users don’t notice its installation. Most free programs come with these unwanted offers, so it’s important that you know how to prevent their installation. When installing free programs, opt for Advanced (Custom) settings instead of Default. Advanced will make all offers visible, and you will be able to deselect everything. If adware is the problem, you will redirected on all popular browsers, whether you’re using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. These redirects will be very disruptive because they will happen when you’re browsing normally. The site you’ll end up on will display a loading bar, and say that “you need to Allow in order to continue…”. A browser notification will also pop-up and ask you to allow Pushwelcome.com to show notifications. If you press “Allow”, you’re essentially agreeing to see ads on your screen. It’s best to not interact with the site all, close the window as soon as you get redirected.

If you have agreed to see the notifications, be careful about what click on until you revoke the permission. The site will push you ads, which will appear at the bottom-right corner of your screen, where system and program notifications usually appear. The ads may appear like legitimate alerts, which is why you should be careful.

In particular, if you get an ad claiming you need to call tech-support because there is an issue with your computer, ignore it. These are tech-support scams, and if you were to call the number, you’d be connected to scammers pretending to be tech-support. They would falsely claim that your system has a virus, ask for remote access for your device, pretend to fix the problem, and then demand that you pay hundreds of dollars for these supposed services. Every single alert with a phone number will always be a scam.

Pushwelcome.com removal

If you were redirected by adware, you will need to get rid of it to remove Pushwelcome.com redirects. The easiest way to do that would be to use anti-spyware software, as those programs are designed to deal with infections like adware. Whether you are dealing with adware or not, if you have provided the site permission to show you notifications, you need to revoke that permission. Here’s how to do that:

• Mozilla Firefox: Open menu (the three bars top-right corner) -> Options -> Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Permissions, press on Settings next to Notifications, and remove Pushwelcome.com. You can actually permanently turn off these notification requests by checking the “Block new requests asking to allow notifications” box in the same Notifications settings.
• Google Chrome: Open menu (the three dots top-right corner) -> Settings -> Privacy and security -> Site Settings. Click on Notifications under Permissions, and remove Pushwelcome.com. You can stop these notification requests permanently by toggling off “Sites can ask to send notifications”.

5. If you were unable to reset your browsers, employ a reputable anti-malware and scan your entire computer with it.

Erase Pushwelcome.com from Google Chrome

1. Access menu (top right corner of the window) and pick Settings.

Remove Pushwelcome.com from Mozilla Firefox

1. In the top right corner of the screen, press menu and choose Add-ons (or tap Ctrl+Shift+A simultaneously).

Uninstall Pushwelcome.com from Safari (Mac OS X)

1. Access the menu.
2. Pick Preferences.
3. Go to the Extensions Tab.
