Once the ransomware takes over your system, it starts encrypting your data. It can encrypt your documents, photos, videos, music and other types of files. After the encryption is complete, the malicious program creates several files that contain a message from the cyber criminals. The message states that your personal files have been encrypted and that a unique key has been generated for your PC. It also states that the only way to decrypt your data is to purchase this key within 72 hours. The notification includes instructions on how to do that. We do not recommend following them, because you cannot be sure that it will help you restore your files. Moreover, even if that does happen, you will still need to remove CTB-Locker from your system.
