Double Your Bitcoins is a scam claiming that by transferring Bitcoin to the shown wallet users could get from 1 to 100 Bitcoins back. This is a classic Bitcoin scam and is quite obvious. Fortunately, after checking the wallet address displayed in the scam, it appears that no one has transferred any Bitcoin to it. Nonetheless, it’s important to inform users about the scams they may encounter on the Internet. The way the scam works is you get redirected to a certain website (either by adware or the site you were visiting) that shows a message saying you can participate in what essentially is a Bitcoin giveaway. The site says: “To verify your address, just send from 0.1 to 10 BTC to the address below and get from 1 to 100 BTC back! Note: You can participate only once”. If you are familiar with Bitcoin giveaway scams, you will immediately recognize this as such. This is a pretty classic one.

To make the scam seem at least somewhat convincing, the URL of the site may be something like apple-event.org. For an unsuspecting user, this may seem like an actual Apple organized giveaway, though more experienced users will immediately recognize that the site is bogus.

If you get redirected to the site displaying this scam once or twice, you can just close the window and carry on with your business. However, if you are constantly redirected, you may be dealing with adware. To delete Double Your Bitcoins redirects permanently, you’d need to get rid of the adware.

The site that displays this Double Your Bitcoins scam will be something like apple-event.org to give the impression that it’s a giveaway organized by a known company/organization. The scam claims that if you transfer money to the shown Bitcoin address (in this case 19MfgPM4PagF4DEzWpSpvnwJ3M9E5YuEmp), you will receive from 1 to 100 Bitcoins in return. The whole message is full of grammar and spelling mistakes, and if wasn’t clear yet, the mistakes make it obvious that it is a scam.

Erase Double Your Bitcoins from Google Chrome
