About Greatsearch.org

Greatsearch.org is a browser hijacker that is responsible for the browser’s setting changes. Once the hijacker install, the changes will happen out of the blue and you will suddenly find that Greatsearch.org has been set as your homepage. If you are wondering how Greatsearch.org managed to install, you installed it yourself.

Greatsearch

It was attached to some free software that you installed and you missed it being attached. If you do not notice the attached item, you are essentially giving it permission to install. While hijackers are not malicious and are regarded as rather low-level threats, they can still be highly irritating. They can also lead users to malicious web pages where malware could be lurking. We would strongly suggest you uninstall Greatsearch.org because otherwise you are possibly putting your computer in danger.

How does Greatsearch.org spread?

Browser hijackers all use the same bundling method to spread. When you download free programs from the Internet, there is a high chance that something will be attached to it, such as adware or a browser hijacker. During freeware installation, use Advanced or Custom settings and you will see what has been attached. If there is something, deselect it/them and you will be able to continue to safely install free software. Rushing through the installation process would be a big mistake because if there is something attached, you will end up missing it, which will allow that something to install. Having to delete Greatsearch.org or similar could be troublesome, so it’s best you do not install them in the first place.

Why remove Greatsearch.org?

If you do indeed have the hijacker installed on your computer, your homepage and new tabs will be changed to Greatsearch.org. Like we mentioned before, these changes are carried out without your explicit permission and you cannot undo them unless you first uninstall Greatsearch.org. Every time you open your Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers, you will see Greatsearch.org. The page has a search engine and links to various pages like Facebook, eBay, Gmail, YouTube, etc. If you type in an inquiry, you will be presented with dubious search results that include sponsored content. You get those results because hijackers generate  income by redirecting you to those pages. We do not suggest engaging with anything that has anything to do with Greatsearch.org because you could be redirected to weird, possibly malicious pages. There are a lot of websites hiding malware on them and if you were to enter one, you could end up with a serious virus infection. If you care to protect your computer, delete Greatsearch.org.
