About this infection

jamBox Search is a browser hijacker that could have entered your computer via free software bundles. If you do not recall installing it and now suddenly your browser is loading weird pages, you need to pay more attention to how you install freeware. This is not a serious infection if you deal with it right away. Otherwise, it could end up leading you to a serious infection.

jamBox Search

You will find your browser’s settings changed and some weird site loading instead of your usual homepage. Those changes will be made without your permission which is why they come as such a surprise. If you engage with the website, you will be exposed to sponsored or even malicious content. This hijacker does not provide anything useful so there is no reason why you should not delete jamBox Search from the system.

How would a hijacker enter a computer?

Browser hijackers are added to freeware as extra offers. You need to deselect them to prevent their installation. It’s not difficult to do but because those items are hidden, users usually do not notice. This happens because they use Default settings. Instead of those settings, choose Advanced or Custom. They will allow you to see what has been added, and if you do not want something, you will be able to deselect it/them. You will save loads of time because it takes much less time to uncheck a few boxes than it would be to remove jamBox Search.

Why uninstall jamBox Search?

When you install the hijacker, it will immediately change your browser’s settings. Without asking for your permission, we might add. The changes will affect most browsers, like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and will be irreversible unless you first delete jamBox Search from the computer. Until then, you are stuck with the above mentioned site as your homepage and new tabs. The site promotes a dubious search engine, and we do not recommend using it. It will insert sponsored content into the results so that it could redirect you to advertisement pages. Hijackers are created to do this because more traffic for sites means more revenue. You should also be aware that it could be inserting malicious sites among the legitimate results. This could lead to a serious infection if you are not careful. So if you want to avoid a possible infection, make sure you remove jamBox Search. It does not provide anything useful anyway.

jamBox Search removal

You have two ways to uninstall jamBox Search. Manual elimination might take more time because you would need to find the hijacker yourself. If you are struggling with finding its location, use anti-spyware software and have it take care of jamBox Search removal. Whichever way you pick, after you get rid of it, change your browser’s settings back.
