About LookUpPro

LookUpPro is adware, promoted as a program that can help get lower prices when shopping online. A lot of adware programs pretend to be useful shopping tools, but in reality they’re just trying to make revenue by exposing users to ads. We very much doubt you installed the program knowingly, the more likely scenario being you installing it accidentally. Adware often spreads via freeware bundles, which essentially means it’s attached to freeware as an extra offer. The offer can install alongside the program without your explicit permission, so you wouldn’t even notice it. LookUpPro

However, while you may not necessarily notice the adware installing, you will certainly notice it in your computer afterwards as it will start bombarding your screen with ads. You will see ads offering better prices for items you are looking at when shopping online, and redirects will lead you to questionable websites out of the blue. While adware is not particularly malicious itself, its generated ads are not exactly safe. The possibility that adware ads can expose you to malicious content is why you should not interact with any adverts while adware is present on your computer. You could end up on scam websites, or fall for a malicious download if you aren’t careful.

We cannot force you to delete LookUpPro, but it is strongly recommended because you have no use of an adware program. It will constantly expose you to advertisements, not all of which will be safe. In addition to the ads, adware will also noticeably slow down your computer and make your browser crash time after time. And keeping the program is out of the question if you didn’t install it knowingly. Programs that don’t request your permission and instead use sneaky methods to install should not be permitted to remain on your computer.

How does adware install?

It is somewhat possible that you somehow installed LookUpPro knowingly, probably thinking it would provide better deals when shopping online. We should mention that it is available on the Chrome web store. However, with so many shopping apps available, it’s quite unlikely that you came across this particular one.

Adware is known to spread via the bundling method, which essentially means it comes attached to freeware as an extra offer. Software bundling is frowned upon by many because it allows programs to sneak past users and install without explicit permission. This is why it’s important to pay attention to how you install programs. During installation, the most important thing is to opt for Advanced (Custom) settings. Unlike Default, which hide attached offers, Advanced settings will show you a list of what has been added. Furthermore, you will be able to deselect all of them. All you really need to do is uncheck the boxes. You may then continue installing the program.

Should you uninstall LookUpPro?

As soon as the program installs, you will start seeing an increase in ads. This particular adware seems to affect Google Chrome, though other browsers have their alternatives. It will show you all kinds of ads, from regular ones to pop-ups and redirects. They will be particularly noticeable when you are shopping online, as pop-ups will offer you better deals for the items you are viewing. You may also get redirected to weird sites, offering you to download software or claiming you need to update your programs. In general, while adware is inside your computer, you need to be careful with what ads you engage with. Or better yet, don’t engage with any ads.

The idea of a program that will hunt down better deals for you is certainly appealing, but you should be careful with such programs. There are many cases where users are shown great deals, only for them to turn out to be a scam. Be skeptical of any deals you are shown, and always check the online store where the deal is coming from. Generally, if a deal seems too good to be true, it very likely is exactly that.

Adware also has the tendency to redirect users to sites that claim you need to update your software. This is a known method that spreads malware. Legitimate updates are never offered this way, and programs usually update without you needing to do anything. You may also get pop-ups, offering you software. Again, this is how malware can be spread. Ads do not count as secure sources for your downloads. Instead, you should only download programs from legitimate sources, like official websites/stores.

Adware also collects data about its users and their browsing habits. It will track what you search for, what sites you visit, etc. This information will be used to make adverts that you would be more likely to engage with. The information could also be shared with third-parties without your permission or knowledge.

Along with the ads, you will also notice that your computer is running slower, and your browser is crashing regularly. This is because of all the ads you are constantly seeing. Once you get rid of the infection, your computer will return to normal.
