About this scam pop-up

Pegasus Spyware Activated Scam targets Apple device users, and claims their system has been infected with the Pegasus spyware. This is a typical tech-support scam, and is completely identical to countless others. It states that your Apple device has alerted Apple about there being an infection on the device, and if you want to fix everything, you need to call the provided tech-support number.

Pegasus Spyware Activated Scam

That right there is the most obvious sign that’s it’s a scam. Legitimate companies, (Apple, Microsoft, etc.) will never ask you to call them, and will definitely not use your browser to inform you about an infection. Keep this in mind and you’ll always recognize these scams. If you were to call the said ‘tech-support’, you would be connected to professional scammers, aiming to fool you into providing remote access to your computer. Some malware could then be installed into your computer, and you would even be asked to pay for it, for legitimate services supposedly.

The pop-ups could be caused by some kind of adware infection, or you could have been redirected when visiting a questionable website. If it’s adware, you need to be more careful about how you install programs because you probably got it via some freeware. We’ll explain more further on in this report. And if you are just looking for a way to delete Pegasus Spyware Activated Scam, scroll down to the last paragraph.

Why are you seeing the pop-ups?

You could have encountered the scam pop-up when you were visiting some weird site. If you are sure that is not the case, adware may be responsible. You could have picked up the infection via freeware bundles. If you did not pay attention to how you were installing the program, you could have missed it having certain items attached to it. Items such as adware or browser hijackers. When you install software, you need to pay attention to how you do it. Follow the process while reading the information provided, and make sure to always use Advanced (Custom) settings. They will make added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect them. After you have unchecked all the boxes, you can proceed to install the program.

The scam pop-up will state that your Apple device has a virus in capital letter to draw attention. According to the warning, your device has been infected with the Pegasus spyware due to some unexpected error. Keep in mind that there is a spyware called Pegasus, and it affects devices running certain versions of iOS, which is why some users might fall for this scam after a simple search via Google or some other search engine. The warning further claims that if you close the message, your device will be disabled. It also goes on to say that your Apple device has alerted them that it’s infected, which is complete nonsense. No matter what malware you have, your device is not going to alert Apple about it, it’s not how it works. And the company will certainly never ask you to call them via browser or phone. Ever. If you did have a legitimate infection, only your reliable anti-malware software would be able to tell. Definitely not your browser. Do not call the number, unless you wish to be scammed, and just get rid of the Pegasus Spyware Activated Scam adware.
