About this infection

SecuryBrowse Search is a browser hijacker that will take over your browser and make changes without permission. Hijackers are pretty harmless infections as they don’t directly harm the computer but nevertheless, they should not be allowed to remain installed. And one of the reasons why is their installation method. Hijackers use the bundling method to install onto computers unnoticed. They are attached to freeware as extra offers, which users need to deselect. Unfortunately, because the offers are hidden, users don’t notice and allow them to install. SecuryBrowse Search

You will know when and what kind of hijacker has infected your computer because your browser’s homepage will be changed to display the hijacker’s promoted site. This is done is order to encourage the user to use the provided search engine, which would insert sponsored content into search results with the intention of redirecting users to sponsored sites. These kinds of redirects could lead users to dangerous content or even malware. Thus, we recommend you remove SecuryBrowse Search.

Browser hijacker spread methods

The bundling method is quite widespread among unwanted program developers, which means users need to be very careful. It’s important that users pay attention to how they install programs if they want to keep computers free of junk of programs. During freeware installation, users should opt for Advanced (Custom) settings as they will show all extra offers and allow users to deselect them. All users need to do is uncheck the boxes of the items, and they can then continue with the installation. Default settings don’t show any added offers, so users should avoid using them. Most freeware have something attached to them, so it’s important to always deselect extra offers.

Should you delete SecuryBrowse Search?

Browser hijackers take over browsers and make unwanted changes (different homepage and new tabs) in order to redirect users to sponsored content. They can affect all popular browsers, whether you are using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, and changes will be irreversible unless you first get rid of the hijacker. Until then, you are stuck with the changes. Your new homepage will have a search box, and if you were to use it, you would be shown results with sponsored links in them. Hijackers aim to redirect users to certain websites so that site owners could get revenue from traffic, but some of those sites may be harmful. They could be concealing some kind of malware, which would download onto your computer if you visited. And those sites will have nothing to do with what you were searching for anyway.

Hijackers are also known to collect information about users, including IP addresses, sites visited, search queries and sometimes even personal information. That information could later be shared with unknown parties.
