What is URL:Mal
URL:Mal is an infection name used by anti-virus Avast and AVG for when you are about to enter malicious websites. When you’re about to enter the malicious site, a notification appears at the bottom-right corner saying that the malicious URL has been blocked. A lot of anti-virus programs have a feature that blocks access to known malicious sites, so it’s not that unusual for these types of notifications to appear. If you get such a notification, you don’t need to do anything, as Avast has blocked anything harmful. These notifications should be pretty rare, unless you’re constantly trying to access malicious sites. 
If you are constantly getting these notifications even if you’re not doing anything out of the ordinary, you may have adware which is constantly trying to redirect you to certain sites, only to be prevented by Avast. Since adware is technically a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and not malware, Avast may not detect the infection. Check your Avast or AVG settings to see if you have enabled the feature that allows Avast/AVG to detects PUPs. That could be why it’s not detecting the adware. Try enabling the feature to see if adware would be detected.
Do you need to delete URL:Mal?
There is no need to remove URL:Mal because it’s only a notification about a malicious site you were about to enter. If you’re constantly getting the notifications but Avast does not detect any kind of infection on your computer, it may be a good idea to try a different anti-virus program. It may be able to detect what Avast or AVG is missing, and if you are dealing with adware, once it’s been deleted, Avast notifications about URL:Mal should stop.
