About Win Erx03

Win Erx03 refers to a fake notification that claims your computer is infected with serious malware, to get rid of which you need to supposedly download the offered “update”. These fake notifications can be very annoying as they suddenly start flashing on your screen, and sometimes make irritating beeping noises. They intend to scare gullible users into thinking that their computers have been infected so that they would download the provided program. The offered program would likely turn out to be either malware or some bogus security software that wants your money. Either way, it’s not something you should download/install onto your computer. Win Erx03

It goes without saying that it’s merely a false notification and that your computer is not infected with malware. Unless, of course, your computer has a completely unrelated infection. No matter what such notifications claim, it’s not true. Your files are not being stolen, and login credentials are not recorded. This is merely a scam promoting malware or rogue security software.

The reason you may be seeing the fake notification is either adware on your computer, or because it was brought about by the site you were on at the time. If it’s the latter, as long as you stay away from questionable sites and not press on anything weird, you’ll be fine. However, if you are constantly redirected, you may be dealing with adware, a minor but rather annoying infection. If that is the case, you’ll need to get rid of it in order to remove Win Erx03 alerts. Until you do solve this issue, be careful to not click on anything strange, and certainly do not interact with the pop-up because you could accidentally download the malicious program.

Why are you seeing the pop-ups?

In order to solve the issue, you first need to figure out why you are seeing the pop-ups. Try to recall whether you were visiting some questionable website when you got redirected. If that is the case, it was probably caused by the site. If it doesn’t appear again, you should be fine as long as you stay away from such sites. However, if the alert is constantly popping up, you are likely dealing with adware. You could have picked up the infection when installing popular freeware. Free programs commonly come together with added offers, which include adware, browser hijackers and other questionable programs. If something is added to freeware, it needs to be manually deselected. Otherwise, it will install alongside automatically.

In order to correctly install a program, you need to pay attention to the process. However, the most important thing is to choose Advanced (Custom) settings when given the option. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect everything. We suggest unchecking all boxes because those offers are unlikely to be of any use to you. Only after you have deselected everything should you continue with the installation.

The pop-ups are promoting questionable software

The fake notification can appear on all popular browsers you have installed, whether you’re using Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It would claim that your system has been damaged, which resulted in your files being deleted. To quote, it says: “Firewall has defined that your Windows Microsoft system is damaged and irrelevant”. Obviously, that does not make any sense, even if you have little understanding of computers. The pop-up will display a timer, and when time runs out your files will supposedly be deleted forever. In order to prevent this from happening, you are encouraged to press the “Update” button. It goes without saying that your files are not being deleted, and you do not need to press anything. If you did click “Update”, either malware or some questionable program would download onto your computer. This is either a ploy to infect your computer with malware, or a scam that will ask you to pay money. Either way, this is all fake, you can just disregard the pop-up.

It should be mentioned that such alerts will never be legitimate. Your browser will never display actual malware warnings because it won’t detect any infections. Only trust your anti-malware with that. No matter how legitimate the warning may seem, if it appears on your browser, you are asked to download something, or to call the provided number, it will always be fake.

Win Erx03 removal

If you were simply redirected, you don’t need to do anything as it shouldn’t reoccur. However, if you are dealing with adware, you will need to get rid of it to delete Win Erx03 alerts. You can either do it automatically, or take care of it yourself. If you go with the latter, you are welcome to use the below provided instructions to help you. However, we do recommend that you use anti-spyware software as it would uninstall Win Erx03 much quicker.
