About Usearch.id

Usearch.id is a browser hijacker, also referred to as a redirect virus. It is not a trustworthy browser add-on and you should not allow it to stay on your computer. Especially, if you did not choose to install it. It could have been attached to free software as an extra offer. It was probably not visible and you ended up missing it. If you do not deselect these kinds of offers, they are permitted to install.

Usearch

Fortunately for you, the hijacker is not malicious. It will change your browser’s settings and force you to use a dubious search engine. It will insert sponsored results among the results and you will end up on all kinds of unrelated sites. The hijacker is pretty useless and there is no reason why you should not delete Usearch.id.

How does Usearch.id spread?

If you did not install the extension from the official site, it was probably attached to free software as an extra offer that you missed. If you do not uncheck the extra offers, they will be authorized to install. This usually happens when users use Default settings. Those settings do not show you any extra offers so refrain from using those settings. Instead, select Advanced (Custom). They will show you all that has been added and will also give you the option of deselecting everything. It is advised that you deselect everything. Always do this and you will not have to uninstall Usearch.id or similar again.

Why remove Usearch.id?

As soon as the hijacker enters your system, it will make changes to your browsers and set itself as your homepage and new tabs. The alterations are carried out without your permission and are irreversible unless you first delete Usearch.id, which you are probably eager to do anyway. The changes will affect all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox so it does not matter which browser you use. On your new homepage, you will see a search engine which will insert sponsored content among the results if you use it. Browser hijackers do not aim to help you. All they want to do is generate traffic for sponsored sites. More traffic means more money. Pressing on any of the results is not recommended at all because you could even end up on malicious sites. If you are not attentive enough and use the search engine, you could end with some kind of malware on your computer. Thus, uninstall Usearch.id.

Usearch.id removal

You may need to obtain professional removal software to be able to fully remove Usearch.id. This would be the easiest option because the anti-spyware program would take care of everything. If you go with manual Usearch.id removal, you will have to find and erase the hijacker yourself, which could be tricky.
