What is Ya.ru?
Ya.ru is a browser hijacker that usually is attached to free software as an additional item. During freeware installation, if added items go unnoticed, they are allowed to install alongside. Browser hijackers are not malicious so there should be no serious issues on your computer if you delete Ya.ru straight away. Browser hijackers usually aim to make money by redirecting you to sponsored pages but not all of them do so.
What we can be sure will happen, however, is that Ya.ru will change your browser’s settings and set a different homepage, new tabs and search engine. These changes can come out of the blue and users struggle to recall if they authorized these changes. While this hijacker is not necessarily dangerous, nothing good will come if you allow it to stay. Remove Ya.ru.
Why should you uninstall Ya.ru?
Firstly, you should make sure you know how to correctly install freeware. Free programs obtained from the Internet usually have some kind unwanted items attached to them. Like adware or browser hijackers. In order to see if something has been attached to the freeware you are installing, you need to use Advanced or Custom settings. Everything that has been attached will be displayed and if you decide you do not want any of the attached items, all you have to do is uncheck the boxes of those items. This will stop them from installing and you can continue to install the freeware. If you do not want to end up having to delete Ya.ru or similar again, you might want to stop rushing through the installation processes in Default settings.
If Ya.ru loads every time you open your Google Chrome browser, it is clear that you have a hijacker on your hands. It will change browser’s settings and set itself as your homepage and new tabs. These changes may be carried out without your permission and you could be prevented from changing them. If you are encountering this problem, you will have to first remove Ya.ru and only then change settings back. Until then, when you open your browser, you will be rerouted to Ya.ru and if you use the search, you will be taken Yandex. While the hijacker might not be malicious, it still entered your computer without your permission which is one of the main reasons why you should uninstall Ya.ru from the computer. You should also be cautious about information collecting. Browser hijackers sometimes collect information about browsing habits so that it could be used to make advertisements.
You have two options when it comes to Ya.ru removal. You can choose to erase Ya.ru manually or automatically. We recommend you choose the latter option as the program would locate and eliminate Ya.ru for you. If you pick to manually removal Ya.ru, you will have to locate the hijacker yourself, which could be difficult.
