What is Ginger New Tab?
Ginger New Tab is a legitimate browser extension which works as a spelling and grammar checker. It could also be considered to be a browser hijacker due to its behavior. The way it gets into your computer is questionable because it uses the bundling method which essentially means that it is attached to free software.
Those attached items are usually not visible and you end up installing them alongside without even knowing. Browser hijackers are usually not malicious but they can be plenty annoying because they change browser’s settings without permission and perform questionable actions. While Ginger New Tab may work as it promises, we feel there are better options out there, ones that would not use dubious methods to install onto a computer. If you do not feel happy with the changes that happened, delete Ginger New Tab.
Why remove Ginger New Tab?
In this days of age, spell and grammar checkers are certainly useful because people usually do not have time to check their texts over and over again, so you might consider Ginger New Tab useful. However, not only will it enter without your permission, it will also make changes to your browser and set different pages as your homepage, new tabs and search engine without your authorization. It will set Bing as your default search engine, and while it is a legitimate service, you should not put up with it because it did not ask your permission. If you try to change the settings, you may not be able to, which is another reason why you should not trust Ginger New Tab. You would first need to delete Ginger New Tab to be able to change settings. It may also be able to expose you to advertisements and sponsored content, which can become very irritating very quickly. While it is unlikely that Ginger New Tab will be able to do this, some unwanted programs are able to expose users to malicious content, which could lead to a serious infection. This is why is not recommended to keep anything that you did not agree to install. The choice whether to delete Ginger New Tab is yours but we recommend you proceed with it.
Browser hijackers, adware and other potentially unwanted programs usually spread using free software bundles. What that means is, they are attached to free software as extra items which theoretically you can choose to install. However, they are set to install alongside and you need to manually prevent them from doing so. You can do so by choosing Advanced (Custom) settings during freeware installation and unchecking the added items. By deselecting them, you are ensuring that you will not have to remove Ginger New Tab or similar later on. You could have also obtained it willingly from the official website.
Ginger New Tab removal
If you choose to uninstall Ginger New Tab, there are two ways. You can choose to erase Ginger New Tab manually which would require you finding the hijacker yourself. Choosing the automatic Ginger New Tab removal option is recommended because the program would do everything for you.
