About this threat

Srvan6.exe is an adware program that will cause major interruption in your regular browsing if you have it installed. Users usually do notice when adware enters but the increase in ads will make it very obvious. For those not familiar with adware, the ads might alarm you into thinking that some kind of malware has invaded but that is not the case.

Srvan6

Adware is not malicious but that does not mean it’s harmless. If you have it on your system, it’s generating adverts and that is slowing down your system and making your browser crash more often. Adware aims to generate pay-per-click revenue and that is why it wants you to press on ads. That is the last thing you should do, however, because adware generated adverts may not always be safe. Some could lead you to a malware infection. In addition to having to remove Srvan6.exe adware, you also need to learn how to avoid these kinds of installations in the future.

How does adware infect computers?

The adware was attached to free software and you missed it during setup. Those attached items are set to install alongside the freeware and to prevent these installations, you need to manually deselect them. This is done in Advanced or Custom settings of the freeware installation process. Choose those settings and everything that has been added will appear there. If there is nothing, you are okay to proceed with the freeware installation. However, if you do see some extra offers, make sure you deselect them first and only then proceed with the installation. Always do this because it’s much quicker to simply uncheck a couple of items than it would be to delete Srvan6.exe.

What affect does adware have?

Most obviously, it will generate advertisements and redirects, even when browsing legitimate sites. The increase in ads will be noticeable on all leading browsers, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, so you will not be able to run away from the problem by switching browsers. You might try avoiding the ads at first but after a while they will get on your nerves and you will be forced to uninstall Srvan6.exe. It’s not obvious what kind of adware has made a home on your computer and to check access Task Manager and look for weird processes. In the case of this adware, you will find srvan6.exe or srvany.exe. Until you get rid of the adware, we advise you refrain from engaging with any ads. Adware generated ones might not always be safe and you could be led to a serious infection. We would strongly recommend you remove Srvan6.exe.
