About Cryptorium

Cryptorium is a ransomware type of virus that seems to spread via the illegal version of FIFA 2017. Once it gets on your computer, it will encrypt your files and then demand that you pay to restore them. It’s your typical ransomware and does not have any special features that would make it stand out among hundreds of other similar computer infections. It uses complex encryption algorithms to make your files unreadable and there currently is no way to decrypt the files.

Of course, there is the option of paying the ransom and hoping the cyber criminals will follow through with their promise to decrypt your files. Sadly, that is highly unlikely. There is very little chance they will do anything to help you. Ransomware developers aim to get money, they’re not obligated to restore your files. So think carefully before you even consider paying. Instead, you should remove Cryptorium without mercy and prevent them from earning even a dime.

What does Cryptorium do?

If you have tried to get your hands on the cracked/free version of FIFA 2017, then that’s how you ended up with Cryptorium. If you decide to download things illegally, at least make sure you are downloading safe files. Cryptorium might also spread via malicious spam emails. Many users get seemingly legitimate emails from various fake companies or government organizations, and see a file attached to that email. When they open the email, the ransomware downloads into the computer. Do not carelessly open email attachments from unknown users because that could have dire consequences. Before you do, look into the sender and the contents and only open it when you are 100% sure it is safe,

According to reports, Cryptorium uses the AES-256 encryption algorithm to make your files unreadable. You will be unable to open any encrypted file. You will then discover the ransom note which will inform you that you “had bad luck today” and that all your files are encrypted. You will be offered a way to get the decryption key. For money, of course. We don’t suggest you pay any attention to the demands. There is not amount of money specified, but if we know something about ransomware, it is that developers demand big sums of money. Are you prepared to pay potentially up to a thousand dollars for that small possibility that your files will be decrypted? Think carefully if it is worth it because by paying, you will also be making creating ransomware worth it for the cyber criminals. We suggest you delete Cryptorium. You also need to invest in reliable backup, so that files loss does not happen again. If you have already had backup prior to infection, you can restore your files from there after you remove Cryptorium.

Cryptorium removal
