About LoveServer

LoveServer is a new ransomware type of virus that has been spotted recently. As usual for most ransomware, the primary distribution method is malicious email attachments. LoveServer will encrypt your files and then demand that you pay to get the files back. Ransomware is potentially one of the most dangerous computer infections because it encrypts files and there’s little chance the victim will get them back. In a lot of cases, even if victims pay, they do not get their files back because ransomware developers can just take the money. LoveServer

In some cases, malware researchers develop free decryption keys but not all ransomware is easy to crack. LoveServer is currently undecryptable. We don’t suggest you risk paying and not getting anything in return. Instead, make sure you delete LoveServer. The only way to get back the files would be to get them from backup. But before that, you must remove LoveServer from your computer.

Why is LoveServer so dangerous?

Ransomware is usually distributed through email attachments. You need to be careful when opening email attachments from senders you do not know because they might be infected with ransomware. If you were to open such an attachment, you would download the ransomware onto your computer. When dealing with suspicious emails, be attentive and pay attention to detail. Even if the sender seems to be from a legitimate company or a government organization, you need to be on guard. Double check the sender and the contents for signs that ransomware could hiding in the attachment.

LoveServer does something unusual compared to other ransomware. Usually, ransomware encrypts your files and attaches a file extension to all affected files. Instead of doing this, LoveServer will make one file out of all of your files and encrypt it. The file will be named ‘BACKUP DONT DELETE’. A file containing a ransom note will also be created and the note will explain, in broken English, that your files have been encrypted. In order to get them back, the victim needs to contact the developers with his/her IP address and presumably, the victim would then receive the price for those files. Contacting the cyber criminals is not the right course of action. As we mentioned before, paying does not necessarily mean your files will be decrypted. In a lot of cases, cyber criminals just take the money and then proceed to ignore you. This could happen to you as well. Instead of paying, invest that money into reliable back so that you are not put in the same situation again. Instead of complying with the demands, we suggest you delete LoveServer.
