This variant of the ransomware infected your computer when you opened a malicious email attachment, and now all your files are encrypted and have the .asasin file extension. Once the encryption is complete, you will be asked to pay a certain amount of money, and supposedly, your files would be decrypted. Criminals providing you with a decryptor is highly unlikely since they can just take your money. And by paying, you would be supporting their future projects, and might become a victim again. Instead, we suggest you delete Asasin Virus. And if you have backup, recover your files from there after you remove Asasin Virus.

Ransomware spared methods

Just like most ransomware, this one infects via malicious email attachments. Those kinds of emails usually land in the spam folder but users still have a habit of checking it. And if they see a seemingly important email, they do not hesitate to open the attachments. Be very careful when dealing with emails from people you do not know. Do bear in mind that crooks like to preted to be from legitimate companies or government organizations, and often pressure the user to open the attachment by saying it’s an important document or an invoice. Never open attachments before you make sure it’s safe to do so.

What does the ransomware do?

When the ransomware enters your computer, it will immediately start encrypting your files. All affected ones will have the .asasin extension so you will know which files have been affected. You will soon notice a ransom note that will explain what happened and how to recover files. You will see the typical Locky ransom note, which asks that you make a payment in order to get the decryptor. Paying is explained in the note, and you are asked to pay 0.3 Bitcoin, which equals to around $1700. That’s a lot of money, especially when you are not even sure you will get the files back. Ransomware creators are criminals, and there is nothing stopping them from just taking your money and not giving you anything. Instead, it would be wiser to invest that money into reliable backup. If you had one prior to infection, you would not have an issue at this moment. You could just delete Asasin Virus, and proceed to recover files. Even if you don’t have backup, we still suggest you remove Asasin Virus as soon as possible.

Asasin Virus removal

You will need to obtain anti-malware software in order to erase Asasin Virus. Manual Asasin Virus removal is possible but it may be too complex for the regular users, and more damage could be done. Unfortunately, the security program will only eliminate Asasin Virus, it will not recover your files.
