BartCrypt Removal Tips

BartCrypt is a ransomware-type infection that might quickly enter your system. In most cases, it is spread in spam emails as a .zip file but, of course, it might find other ways to enter computers. Once this infection enters, it immediately locks all the personal files (pictures, images, videos, etc.) that users keep on their computers.

If you cannot access any of your files, and you see that they have the extension .bart.zip, you can be sure that BartCrypt is installed on the computer and you need to remove BartCrypt. Of course, it will try to convince you to pay money to get the key to unlock files;

How does BartCrypt work?

You already know that BartCrypt will encrypt your files. Of course, it is not the only thing it is going to do. It has been noticed that this infection will also change the users’ wallpaper to recvover.bmp and create files recover .txt in every folder containing locked files. These files tell users what has happened to their files and what they need to do to unlock them. As we have suspected, BartCrypt will ask users to pay 3 Bitcoins, which is a really huge sum of money for the decryption key. Of course, nobody knows whether the key will be really sent to you, so we do not recommend paying money. Instead, you should simply remove BartCrypt from your computer. After you do that, you should try using a free file decryptor. Some users report that it has helped them to recover some of their files.

How is BartCrypt distributed?

BartCrypt tries to pretend a good .zip archive in spam emails. If often calls itself pictures.zip or images.zip to convince users to download it. If you have opened a .zip archive too, you have immediately allowed BartCrypt to sneak onto the computer. Unfortunately, other ransomware infections that exist are also spread this way, so we suggest being very careful all the time. Users who wish to ensure the system’s safety also need to acquire and install security software after the BartCrypt removal.

How can I uninstall BartCrypt?

We highly recommend that you do not pay money for cyber criminals but, instead, delete BartCrypt from browsers and then try to recover files alternatively. As it is a really hard task to implement the BartCrypt removal, we suggest that you do not even try erasing it in a manual way. Instead, you should simply scan your computer with an automatic malware remover. An automatic tool will not only delete the ransomware infection, but will also find and eliminate other existing threats that might be installed on your PC and you do not know anything about.
