About BrowseFox

BrowseFox is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware. It’s considered to be a PUP because users do not always choose to install BrowseFox, and it displays huge amounts of ads. Those ads can expose you to dangerous websites and infect you with serious malware.  If you don’t remember downloading BrowseFox, you must have gotten it by installing free software or shareware.  It’s a very common spread method, known as the ‘bundling’ method. While BrowseFox does not put your computer in direct danger, we don’t recommend you keep it and suggest you delete BrowseFox.

How did I end up with BrowseFox

It probably bundled up with another program. When you install programs you download from the Internet, you should be aware that some of them have additional items that come together with them. It’s called ‘bundling’ and is a very popular way to spread browser hijackers, adware and PUPs. If you want to avoid installing something you might not want, pay attention to the installation process. Use Advanced (custom) settings to see what will be installed along with the program and uncheck the unwanted items, if there are any. If you use Default settings, you risk missing and installing potentially unwanted applications. If you noticed that it has made home on your computer, we suggest you uninstall BrowseFox.

What does BrowseFox do

BrowseFox is adware that ads itself to your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome) and then exposes you to huge amounts of ads when you browse the Internet. The ads might contain spacial offers or coupons to make you click on them. BrowseFox is not created to give you better deals when shopping, it’s made to generate traffic and make money. When you click on an ad, it will redirect you to a certain page. The owner of that webpage makes money from the amount of visits his or her site gets. The annoying ads might not be a big issue if not for the fact that they can redirect you to dangerous domains. The Internet is full of webpages with malware waiting for you. You can infect your computer with serious viruses if you’re not careful. If you want to avoid that, remove BrowseFox.

How to terminate BrowseFox

If you noticed it on your computer, take the time to delete BrowseFox immediately. You can uninstall BrowseFox both manually and automatically but we recommend you use anti-malware software to aid you in BrowseFox removal. Instructions on how to remove BrowseFox will be provided below.
