About this ransomware

FlatChestWare ransomware virus is a piece of malware that targets websites. If you have a website and it suddenly is displaying some weird message and you cannot properly enter the page, it has likely been encrypted. This is a rather unusual ransomware as usually these kinds of threats target computer systems, instead of websites. When you enter an infected website, a ransom note will be displayed and the owner is asked to pay a ransom.

FlatChestWare

The website would then supposedly be restored. Paying the ransom, as always, is not recommended because it does not guarantee recovery. You need to remember that you are dealing with cyber criminals, who might not feel obligated to help you, even after you pay. And if you want to prevent similar infections in the future, make sure you implement the most up-to-date security measures. It is recommended that whether you own the website or if you merely visited it, you scan your computer for malware. You may not necessarily need to delete FlatChestWare ransomware virus from your computer, but it’s worth checking.

How does ransomware usually spread?

When it comes to ransomware, there are a variety of different ways for it to spread. This particular ransomware targets websites thus, in order to avoid it, you need to make sure to always apply the latest security measures and use only secure plug-ins. If there are no vulnerabilities, the ransomware will not be able to get in. In general, when it comes to ransomware, it’s important that users are careful all the time, even when doing something mundane, like opening email attachments. Malicious email attachments are responsible for thousands of infections so if you do not want to become a victim, do not open every single attachment you get without first making sure it’s safe to do so.

What does the ransomware do?

If it manages to infiltrate your website, it will encrypt it and instead of the usual contents, you will be greeted with a ransom note. You, and anybody else who enter the site will encounter a message that explains that website’s files have been encrypted. The victim is asked to pay a ransom of $120 in Bitcoins (currently 0.03 Bitcoin) and files would be supposedly restored, making the website available again. We recommend you ignore the message, and recover those files from backup, which you should have. Engaging with negotiations with cyber criminals is not recommended because you will most likely get fooled. There is nothing forcing the crooks to help you so you could be paying for nothing. Just remove FlatChestWare ransomware virus from the website. And don’t forget to scan your computer with anti-malware software to make sure you do not need to delete FlatChestWare ransomware virus or any other malware from the computer.
