About this infection

Microsoft Azure Virus is a scam pop-up that warns you about suspicious computer activity and asks that you call the provided number for help. It’s a typical tech-support scam that aims to trick users into providing scammers remote access to their computer so that they can install malware or charge a lot of money for supposed ‘support’. If it’s caused by adware, you likely got it when you were installing freeware. If you did not deselect the offers attached to it, aka adware or hijackers, they were allowed to install alongside. The following paragraph will explain how to avoid these kinds of infections in the future, so continue reading. Adware itself is not malicious but it could lead to some trouble. In this case, it could result in financial loss because users may be fooled into believing the issue is real and they need to call the ‘technicians’, who would scam them out of a lot of money. You don’t need to call anyone, the only thing you need to do is delete Microsoft Azure Virus adware.

How did it infect the computer?

Adware is usually attached to free programs. They are added in a way that allows them to install alongside, unless users deselect it, which usually does not happen because they do not pay enough attention to how they install programs to notice them. If you want to be able to prevent these unwanted installations, choose Advanced or Custom settings and pay attention to the whole installation process. Advanced settings will make added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect them. All those attached offers are more trouble than they are worth so you will regret it if you allow them to install.

What does it do?

When the adware installs, your browsing will be interrupted by pop-up warnings that claim some suspicious network connection was detected and that you should call the provided number. You might encounter these pop-ups on all browsers you have installed, including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Even if you close one, the warnings will keep appearing, so the only way to permanently get rid of them is to remove Microsoft Azure Virus adware. The warnings are very clearly a scam for a number of reasons. First of all, it says that your computer has been infected ‘by the Trojans’ because ‘System activation key has expired’, which not only sounds awkward due to poor grammar but is also complete nonsense. These is no such thing as getting infected by a Trojan because your activation key is no longer valid. Another reason we know it’s a scam is the phone number provided. The alert claims that the phone number would connect you to Windows Help Desk. In reality, you would be connected to professional scammers who try to remotely connect to your computer. They could either try to convince you that they are fixing your computer, or they would install malware. Either case, you would be charged a lot of money for it. Microsoft, Apple or any other company will never ask you to call them in such a way, nor will they warn you about infections in your browser. There is nothing wrong with your computer, no Trojan is stealing your information, and there are no strange network connections. Unless, you do have an infection that is completely unrelated to all of this. Since the pop-up issue would be solved if you just get rid of the infection, uninstall Microsoft Azure Virus adware.

The program would find the infection and take care of it for you. If you want to do it yourself, you are welcome to follow the below provided instructions to help you. If you are successful, the ads should no longer appear.
