What is ShdUpdate?

ShdUpdate is a service/file which indicates that there is a browser plugin installed on the computer. It does not mean that it is not there if you do not see a toolbar at the upper part of your browsers. It might be true that it works on a specific browser which you do not have only. We do not try to say here that it is safe to keep a toolbar using the ShdUpdate service, so go to find that undesirable piece of software and erase it as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, this is the only way to implement the ShdUpdate removal too, so do not wait any longer. Since ShdUpdate is responsible for updating a browser plugin, it might be updated soon and start working in a nasty way, so the longer you let it stay, the bigger problems might emerge. We are sure that you do not want this to happen, so we are going to help you in this article to erase that toolbar and thus uninstall ShdUpdate too.

What does ShdUpdate do?

Undoubtedly, ShdUpdate can perform more than one function, but, as malware experts have recently found, ShdUpdate is created as a scheduled task in the Windows Task Scheduler by a toolbar so that it can download updates. As a consequence, ShdUpdate becomes active several times a day automatically. It searches for the latest updates and then, if they are found, it helps to download them. It seems that several different toolbars can use this service to get updates from their creators, but one of these the most notorious ones is Babylon Toolbar, which has already affected thousands of computers. This toolbar is definitely not a trustworthy one, so it needs to be erased as soon as possible. Do not let other unknown toolbars stay on your computer too. By deleting them, you will also delete ShdUpdate from the Task Scheduler.

Why do I see ShdUpdate?

ShdUpdate is not a separate malicious application, but it might work as a component for updating suspicious toolbars, which means that it enters computers together with them. Experts have long ago noticed that all kinds of toolbars often enter computers using the bundling method, so users, although they install these bundles themselves, do not know anything about that because they are sure that they have installed only one program, usually a free application from the web. Do not install new suspicious programs on your computer in the future. This will not happen if you are more careful with new free programs and enable a security tool on your computer.

How do I remove ShdUpdate?

Since ShdUpdate is directly associated with some kind of toolbar, e.g. Babylon Toolbar, you need to find and erase it if you want to implement the ShdUpdate removal. It is not always very easy to erase them, so employ an automatic scanner. It will remove ShdUpdate for you together with the untrustworthy toolbar. An automatic tool will delete ShdUpdate for you only if it is trustworthy, so do not install the first scanner you find promoted on the Internet.
