What is Super TuneUp?

Super TuneUp is a potentially unwanted program (PUP), advertised as a system optimization tool. There are countless programs like this, promising better computer performance, a cleaner system, no more errors, etc., and most of them are only after your money. They can install without permission, via the bundling method, scare users into thinking that their computers are full of issues and then offer to fix them. Super TuneUp

But in order to use those programs to fix the issues, users would need to purchase the full version first. Since the issues detected by those programs would be greatly exaggerated, users would only be wasting their money by buying those programs. We have previously reported on Power Speedup 2018, Power System Care, Power Cleaner 2018 and many others acting the same way. They can also end up harming your computer during the ‘clean up’. They can delete essential files, which could cripple your system. This is one of the reasons why Super TuneUp is classified as a PUP. So instead of using it, we recommend you delete Super TuneUp. And certainly do not pay money for it.

System optimizers are a debatable topic in any case, with many people believing they are completely unnecessary as modern computers are able to maintain themselves. Microsoft even encourages avoiding tools that clean registries because they could end up doing more harm than good. But if you believe your computer would benefit from a system optimization utility, you can find better programs than this one.

We mentioned that the program installs via the bundling method, and that basically means that it comes attached to freeware as an extra offer. Those offers are authorized to install alongside the freeware, unless you manually prevent them from doing so. We will explain how to do that in the following section. If you are not interested in finding out more about the program, proceed to the last section of this report, where we will explain the removal process.

How does Super TuneUp install?

There is a slight possibility that you installed it yourself, although it’s unlikely. With the amount of similar programs available, the chances of you stumbling upon this one are pretty slim. So the more likely scenario is you accidentally installing it via the bundling method. The program was likely attached to some freeware program that you installed, and you did not pay enough attention to notice. Users often install unwanted programs simply because they rush through installation processes. If you want to prevent these unnecessary installations, opt for Advanced or Custom settings during freeware setup. Those settings will make all added offers visible, and you will be able to deselect all of them. All you really need to do is uncheck the boxes of those offers. This will stop them from setting up. Default settings will not show the offers, so make sure you always opt for Advanced.

No matter what kind of program you are installing, you need to pay attention because otherwise your computer will fill up with junk, which can be annoying to get rid of later on.

Should you uninstall Super TuneUp?

If you did not install the program yourself and it suddenly turned up on your computer, then the answer is without a doubt yes. Programs that installed without your permission should not be allowed to remain. Super TuneUp shouldn’t harm your computer so there is no need to worry about that. However, it’s not a useful tool either. It will scan your computer for issues (old registry entries particularity) and then show you rather alarming results. Do not be surprised if the program shows you tens or even hundreds of issues. Some of them may be completely minor but made to look severe, or they might not exist at all. The program classifies old registry entries as serious issues when in reality they are harmless and have no effect on your device. Those detected registry entries are likely leftover files from uninstalled programs.

If you try to fix the issues by using the program, you will be asked to buy it first. It costs $39.95/per year but in order to pressure you into purchasing it, you will be offered a $10 discount which is will no longer be valid the next day. And in addition to the program, you will also get PhotoStudio v2.1 which apparently costs $49.95 but you will get it for free. Overall, you would be paying $29.95 for two useless programs. Not only that, it would probably be difficult to cancel the the subscription, or you might forget it only to have your money taken again some time later. There are much more reliable programs out there, so do not waste money on this one.

In addition to all the above mentioned things, if you read the Privacy Policy, you would find that it shares information about you with third-parties. When you buy the subscription, you need to provide all kinds of information about yourself, including name, email and phone number. We highly doubt you want that information to be shared with questionable third-parties.
